Tissue-research peptidesFull-length, N-terminally acetylated 43-amino-acid Thymosin Beta-4 reference peptide for actin-regulation and cytoskeleton studies in vitro.
This product is full-length synthetic Thymosin Beta-4 (Tβ4): an N-terminally acetylated 43-amino-acid peptide corresponding to the widely distributed mammalian G-actin-sequestering protein. It is chemically distinct from the shorter LKKTETQ fragment that is also sometimes marketed as TB-500; the full-length and fragment materials have different mass, solubility and adsorption behavior and are not interchangeable analytical references.
Thymosin Beta-4 is a principal G-actin-sequestering protein: it binds monomeric actin and thereby regulates cytoskeletal dynamics in cell-free and cell-culture assays. Its biochemical interest lies in this quantifiable actin-binding stoichiometry, which makes it a reference ligand for cytoskeleton-regulation studies.

Search PubMedCell-free assays characterize the G-actin-sequestering interaction quantitatively; these are the primary biochemical assays in which Tβ4 serves as a reference ligand.
Search PubMedLKKTETQ-class fragments behave differently in mass, solubility and surface adsorption; analytical records should state explicitly which material an experiment used.
Search PubMedThe peptide's solubility and surface adsorption are concentration- and container-dependent, so low-binding plastics and documented preparation times improve reproducibility.
